Default Managing a cat in a trailer

My wife wants to try bringing our cat along on a weekend camping trip to see if he can hack coming with us and staying with us in our trailer. Any tips for managing a cat in a trailer?

Leave it at home?

Why invite disaster? 1 hungry hawk/owl and you are minus 1 kitty. Cat's don't usually require a babysitter like dogs and other animals. As such, I would leave it at home.

Yeah, seems like there is almost zero upside. Cat gets out and it's gone.

We have taken our cat before, and it worked out fine. However, I would say it is the temperament of the cat. He got out, when not in his harness once, but was so nervous he came right back. But, for the harness, it took us weeks to get him used to the harness so he could be leashed safely.

I dunno, I wouldn't take a cat, however Kei is probably right. It depends on the cat. Also some cats will NEVER be safe on a harness so that is something else to try out too. Personally, I think I would worry to much to take a cat.

Try taking the cat to say an empty parking lot and walking it around on a harness, if it does ok, try that for a few days and try a short camping trip close to home.

Use the same tactics that work with your wife and you should be fine......or a pet carrier that did not work that well with the wife.

A popup camper is just a carrier for larger pets.
