Two bottles will last a long time if you are careful. Most brands are acceptabel now days, but if you have no experience, Coleman products are usually built well.

I agree whole heartedly. 100 pound tanks will obviously last longer but 20 pounders can be moved around easier. We have v2 twenty's but if I had to prepare for a month I would buy 4 or 5.

I agree with Lamebeaver, but personally, if you can go and afford to get the Coleman propane stoves so much the better. You can't really be sure about the quality and longevity of the knock off models.

I have owned lots of Coleman appliances over the years starting with my grandfather's stove from 1920. I bought a new Coleman lantern in about 1980 to replace the used one I got at a yard sale in 1968. It worked but flamed up a lot and was not safe in a tent. My new lantern never worked right so I sent it back to the factory with a note. "Fix this for free or keep it." They sent the lantern back and it has never worked right. I now have a propane lantern and a Brunton stainless steel propane stove which I trust and really like.

I would definitely recommend a Coleman as well. We also keep a couple of full propane tanks around if we need to use it long term, because all of our applainces are electric (for now at least).

If you have the room, Camp Chef makes a great line of free standing, heavy duty propane stoves.

After seeing 1/4 of CozIn's collection I feel somewhat underequipped. I have four Coleman lanterns and three of their two-burner stoves, all of them white gas of course.
