Default No cabins!

It stinks - we are trying to set up a camping trip for a few families and us for the 11th and 12th of August and no campgrounds have any cabins available. Looks like we might be roughing it with tents again.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should set it up for another date when you can reserve a cabin. It's a whole different experience to sleep on the ground outdoors than to sleep in a cabin. I've been in some very nice cabins before, and I love it.

Not sure where you are in NY, but this place in western ma. will probally be able to accommodate you.
I booked the double cabin that sleeps 18 for a weekend in Sept. and they just finished the North cottage that sleeps another 10, it comes out to less than $20/bunk per night.

Not being mean or anything but reading your post reminds me of how people view things differently. I feel the same way when I end up staying in a cabin rather than out in the open. I feel like I am roughing it in a cabin as I cant lay on the ground and see the starts at night. Or that I might miss something what was once in a life time happening like the time I was awakened at 3 in the morning by a white tail doe walking about 6 feet from me.

Once again not passing judgement or making a right or wrong statement just an observation of differences in what we like as humans.

I guess it depends where you are. Where I live, if you want to rent cabins, you have to make your reservations at least a month in advance, sometimes more.

I would rather stay out. We have a very comfortable tent and tons of camping equipment. We would rather go out in the bush somewhere though. There are no neighbors in the bush.

Just pack up the tent and go. Don't worry about the fancies. You'll have fun anyway and save the price of a cabin to boot. It's amazing how much fun you can have while camping.

When I want to stay in a cabin, I go to a motel which offers nice little cabins.

When I want to go camping, I just walk into the woods.

A few of our state parks have cabins that book up to a year in advance. I do an annual family trip that involves tents, RVs and some who want a cabin so I understand how hard it can be to accommodate everyone. Although I barely consider them to be "camping", most KOA's now have little cabins in addition to the concrete slabs they call campsites When camping with a mixed group, they're not all that bad.
