Cool Porta-potty

I recently purchased a small porta-potty at a local yard sale. Anyone else using the same? What chemicals should I use with this unit, if any? Any safety or environmental issues I should be aware of regarding its use?

Since I go camping with pre-teens a porta-potty is out of the question-not that I mind either. I would be careful where you dump the chemicals. You can probably get some good advice at your local camping store.

Be prepared with your own sources.
Porta-potties usually begin fully equipped with plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, but inevitably run out. Bring your own toilet paper and a small bottle of hand sanitizer, so you're prepared, just in case. You will be able to see extra supplies in your briefcase career start (or you can always leave a porta-potty for runners below).

We either go to a campground with some sort of facilities, or we bring a shovel. I usually vote for the campground because I really don't care to have to bury my poo, but I'd rather just make my business in a hole in a ground and be done with it than lug it around in a port-o-potty. Just my 2 cents.

there are formaldihide free chemicals to put in the " dirty tank " to break down solid waste and control smell . available at any rv store or wall mart . follow the directions .
there is paper that is septic safe and breaks down easily .
i dump mine at camp grounds when on the road or right into my septic when back home with no problems .
rinse and clean with water and soap before storing and a little petroium jelly on the rubber seals will keep them soft .
