I had funny yet scary experience about a snake when I was camping. I was walking out of the tent one morning and on one of the pegs was a snake. Both of us were surprised to see each other. I jumped away from the tent and the snake slithered into the bush. My heart was pumping hard while I laugh at myself.

Scariest animal while camping would have to be a skunk. My first camping trip with my family, we camped out for a few nights at Norris Dam State Park. Luckily when the skunk came around the site, our daughter was already in the tent asleep. My wife and I sat in our chairs as still as could be until the little bugger wander off. Luckily we never got sprayed nor did it spray in or around camp. That would stink. Ba-dum-bump.

I'd have to say a cougar.

I've met up with bear, far too often, if the truth be told, including one encounter with a grizz with triplets (not cool, but one of the dogs went berzerk and we got out of there).

The cougar though, there was something about the steeliness of it's gaze and the position of it's body that scared me so badly I was almost unable to use my own legs to back up really, really slowly.

I'd have to say that when I was camping with one other woman we met a very scary and creepy man. He didn't speak - just followed us and he didn't have any walking or camping gear. That was in Greece.

Other than that - dogs on the loose are pretty scary.

I once saw a bear a little to close for my own comfort since I was down wind, but luckily I noticed in time, also my drunken buddies who thought there ax was a tomahawk.

Silver Back Grizzly...Wrangell-St.Elias NP Very fast and it had been a long time since I had to change pants. No kidding....I was charged 3 years ago and I held my ground making myself look big trying not to stare into the Grizz's face slowly very slowly moving my legs to the rear and trying to withdraw very slowly. Luck it was a bluff and the Grizz moved away and left. They say when you face death you will loose control of your bowls...well this is true....

My mom hates snakes and I've inherited that from her. We encountered a couple a little too up close and personal for my taste. That makes them the scariest!

The worst animal I have run across were 2 angry raccoons! When I was a kid they were my favorite animal because I liked the black, gray, and white of their coats. But I am fully aware that they are mean and nasty creatures now.
