Default Scheduling

Does anyone else get annoyed by how far in advance you have to schedule? I don't know if it's because my kids are getting older but reserving way in advance usually causes major problems by the time the actual trips come around. It's too bad some places can't just have a lottery that starts May 1st.

I know what you mean. It seems like some people make their reservations the day they get their kid's school schedule. It is fine though, I would rather take the kids out then go to a campground or someplace on a spring break.

I figure that it comes from picking some locations in their "high" season. I mostly enjoy having places to myself so I'll beach camp in the winter, camp during the week, and when working around school schedules, call as soon as they come out for reservations at choice locations. I'd have to do the same when renting beach houses, cabins in the mountains in the fall, and condos at ski resorts in winter.

The hunting lodge we use is kind of a time share so we have to plan a little in advance. I'm glad I don't bother too much with places like you're talking about.

We end up reserving stuff way before spring break and by the time the summer comes around everything then revolves around the camping schedule. I wonder if it's because we go in such a large group? Never occurred to me before that I might be it. Duh.

Another plus for primative camping and backpacking.
