I like that pod idea. In fact I was thinking of doing the very same thing, but thought if it was such a good idea, why hadn't I seen it before. Now I know that it's worth trying.

One key is that I want to keep the weight down below that of my bag, sleeping pad and tent. Once you start adding those under and top quilts I think I'd be carrying more weight than if I used my solo tent.
