Default The Showers

The last time my family went camping, we stayed in the campgrounds. They had the most horrible showers I have ever seen. I would have preferred being out in the woods to using the showers. We wore flip flops in the shower but it was so bad, the water was red.

We've run across some pretty nasty showers and bathrooms in our travels. I always tell my kids to pay attention so they'll realize the importance of keeping their own clean when they eventually move out.

You can get a solar shower and a special tent=type enclosure for same at a reasonable price. Do a few primative camping trips and you'll save enough money on the campground fees to pay for it. Plus, you don't have to deal with as many people, noise, etc.

Yes, I was going to suggest one of those solar showers with some sort of enclosure. Much better then trying to use one in the campground that is nasty. You may consider bringing along a porta potty too if you know the campground doesn't have a good one. Or better yet, just don't go back to said campground again.

I wouldn't use the showers if the water was a funny color like that. You have no idea what could be in it. I would much rather just go dirty than risk something like that.

Pretty gross! I've seen some nasty showers in all my camping years too. I almost ALWAYS wear my flip flops in to the shower (even when it's a semi-decent one). You just don't know what the people did in there before you.

If the water was red it probably means it's a shallow well dug into clay. I wouldn't drink it but it's okay for showering.

I thought showers in the woods is what happens when it rains. Really though I have seen a few places that had bad water (it was stinky) but if you really need a wash down & there is no rain in sight you gotta do what you gotta do.

If the water is stinky, it is probably because there is a lot of sulfur in it. I wouldn't drink it but it's okay to shower. Oh, and if it is sulfur and you're constipated, drink some. You won't be constipated for long.

I have seen some nasty showers at a few places we go, but we usually aren't out long enough to "have" to use them. I think I would go for the solar shower if I needed one!
