mountain tony is on a distinguished road
silicone in my water tank

Hey, haven't been around been down Va. i just got a water tank from riley for my stove ( colt ) the inside has a bunch of silicone around the facet and the seams. Is that normal or should i take it out or will it melt when i season the stove

any help would be great

Unless it is high temp silicon it will probably melt.
Is the tank new or used?
If used it was to stop a leak.

If it came from the factory like that and you use it for what it was intended then you should be okay.
Try it out and make sure before you need it.

Ever think of checking with the manufacturer or reading the instructions for use?

I looked at this post all day yesturday not wantin' to show my ignerance. What the heck does a water tank hafta do with a stove.?? If its for heating water why not use a pot?? if it's just for holding water the silicone is fine. I dang sure wouldn't boil water in anything with silicone sealing the joints and am pretty sure it wasn't designed that way

It's for heating water. A long time ago that's how folks did it. You know, for washing dishes, clothes and yourself.
