Default Stargazing, anyone?

I miss it when I was a teenager I would get out at night when it was clear and just gaze at the stars. I know this is not the right time to do it because we're in the middle of the summer solstice and it's raining cats and dogs.

Now that night vision goggles are more available, try looking into the night sky with those. Totally amazing. We use to do this out in the desert at For Irwin in California. No light pollution at all. I would lay on top of my track and watch the stars, then one night I tried the night vision and I couldn't believe how many more stars can be seen. You can sit and watch meteors streaking through the sky almost one after another.

I used to do it all the time when I was a kid. I try to do it anytime I am out at night, but for the most part I miss stargazing as well.

OldSarge, Thank you for the night goggles idea. I'm totally up for it. I'm googling it now. I love gazing at the stars and studying the constellations.
