Hi...

It's always nice to experiment with different ways of starting campfires, isn't it?

Yet, when I want a cooking/heating fire afield, I always prefer the lighter and/or matches method.

Theosus, the problem with those logs is if ya read the fine print ya will see they are toxic and ya are not sposed to cook over them.

Never thought of that...........you're a genius!

I sort of like the Vaseline on my fingers. I take whatever little amount I get and rub it on a cut or a burn. I love having things in my pack that serve multiple purposes.

1. I cook on my stove, not the campfire. Campfire is for warmth and sitting around with pretty hiker chicks.
2. If you are using a 3/4 inch square of fire logs, by the time you get a good fire going and burned to coals over which you might be cooking, that little square is long gone.

For tinder try a mini metal pencil sharpener on dried out sticks that are
found off the ground. Use the shavings

Take care,

That's not a bad method. I do that with my knife but same idea. A pencil sharpener would make them smaller faster if you have dry sticks of the right size.
