I like the idea of letting them learn the hard way. They have a choice, wear it or don't wear it. If they choose not to wear it, they suffer the consequences. Plus, looks are not everything. Practicality should win over looks.

True, I agree with this as well.

cheap gray thermals (fruit of the loom I think) work fine for me.

At least you are willing to buy your kids camo thermals. I am used to the plain white thermals-now those are dorky. Hehe. Actually, my two year old has some neat looking thermals such as a pink camo set as well as a white set with flowers on them. They are pretty fashionable.
Our 11 year old isn't a big fan of the thermals. She usually just doubles up on other layers of clothing to stay warm when she is cold. I actually used to do this too as I didn't like the feel of the thermals. They always felt too tight and itchy.

Agreed, let them learn the hard way. I think most of us did.

Sometimes, that's how many kids can learn. As much as I hate doing that to my kids, it's the best way for them to understand why we ask them to do certain things.

If they keep it up with the whining about camo thermals or anything else I am going to tell them all to get a job and buy their own.
We help with a few foster kids and my stock, "hard love" answer would be "Fine, freeze then!"
It is underware for Petes sake, nobody will see them after you get dressed.......sometimes.
Go with red and the button butt flap, see if they like them better!

Neither one of my kids are very particular about what they are wearing. They don't care what people think. They will wear what is going to keep them warm. I'm pretty fortunate about that. I think that they get that from both my husband and me. We aren't fancy dressing people.

Hmm....That depends on whether you are the one wearing them or it's the person snuggled up against you.

Lots of kids have been brainwashed by the advertising media, along with ample peer pressure, to care a lot about what they look like in clothes. The ones who resist almost go out of their way to take the opposite route and look horrendous. Most grow out of it by their thirties. Didn't you? I remember my own clothing mishaps when I was their age.
