I tend to keep a box or two of baking soda with me when we head out on camping trips. It comes in handy to keep in a bag with the stinky clothes. Anyone else do this?

That might be a good trick. I know there are some products that will take the smell out of stuff once its been in a fabric, but since its liquid I doubt it would be good to take on a trip and leave open in a bag.
For right now the spouses best idea is plastic baggies from the market but I am not thinking its really going to hold a strong smell. I might have to give the dryer sheets a shot, they tend to be pretty potent.
would drier sheets attract bears? I know the rules at the national parks say all toiletries have to be stored in the bear box, so would that smell attract them?
baking soda sounds safe
I really hope not. Makes me wonder how many ladies out there are going to fear wearing any type of perfume on the day they head out. Sweet smells attracting bears would maybe be a good reason to tell the kids that candy as to stay at home though!
I really didn't think of it. We just leave the stuff in the back of the truck and get it out when we get home. It is rather stinky when you start hauling it into the house though.
Grandma and my mother used to keep a box of baking soda in the fridge to keep odors down. But for backpacking? Naww, I'm sweet smelling enough I just throw dirty clothes in a ziplock and let them ferment until I get home.
