Default Stoking the campfire

Whose job is it to keep the campfire going all night? Usually we don't have any problem with that, there are always a couple of men who end up staying up too late by the fire and sometimes they fall asleep in their chairs.
When it gets really chilly out at night, someone has to keep the fire going.

We all take turns. I usually go to bed before the guys so I get some sleep and then wake up once they have gone to sleep to keep it going. Usually someone else will wake up to take over for me.

Unless it's really cold we just let it go out. We have a little heater on a generator in the pop up so we don't miss the fire too much. I love a fire but we don't ever stay up to keep it going. We have tried to bank it before so we don't have to start from scratch the next morning and have had some success with it.

We usually just let it go out as well because it is warm enough in the tent without it. We don't keep it going all day because we aren't at camp all day. Normally we just have it for a few hours before bed.

We don't keep it going all day either, unless we are camping in the late fall. I do like it to go most of the night though. You never know who won't be able to sleep and will want to sit by the fire.

I love the campfire. For me it is a sign of my burning ever lasting passion for nature. Maybe I am OCD but I hate to let it go out as well.

I have things I get OCD about when I am camping so I can understand that. I bet you are fun to have camping just because no one else has to worry about the fire going out!

Well put! When you need to keep a fire stoked through the night is there a certain kind of wood you use to make it easier to keep going?

I am one of those guys who sits too long around the fire at night and occasionally falls asleep in my seat. I usually toss a big chunk of punk on the fire before turning in and then I have coals for the morning.
