Default Trash management

How do you manage your trash when you go camping? I guess it would depend on the type of camping that you do. I like to get off the beaten path.

When in the campground we take our own garbage can and bags. If there is a dumpster available, fine and good. Our trash is contained and easy to take to the dumpster.

When backpacking, a gallon ziplock holds the foil and any other non-burnables and is the garbage can and stays right in the food sack to be hung at nights, etc. A small ziplock carries burnables (non-metal,) for the next campfire.

Even around the house we tend to be pretty careful with what and how we are pitching things. I break down anything I can to lessen the bulk but sometimes with kids its easier said than done too. Ziplocks though like Grandpa mentioned are a live saver sometimes.

Carry it in, carry it out if hiking. When camping use what ever is available at the site for dropping off trash. May burn some. All depends on what it is and how much.

If I am going to go off the beaten path, I like to set myself up so I won't leave with a whole lot of trash. Other wise I will carry a bag that will be for trash alone and make sure everything I take in, I take out.

Can you tell us some of the things you do so that you can set yourself up so that you will not have a lot of trash? I am sure some of us would like to know what that would entail.
