Treasure Hunting while trekking

My husband's favorite hobby is treasure hunting. He often goes out with his younger brother with metal detector and they would trek their way in sundry and solitary places. All they find so far are ancient Roman coins. Sometimes they even dig a skull. Oh to find a treasure!

On another thread they are discussing how all this can get you arrested, fined or jailed. Now I'm confused! I own a metal detector myself. Don't use it all that often. But there seems to be a fine line as to what you can take out of the ground and where. I say if you find it, it's yours. Just as long as you're not damaging personal or government property. Nice hobby, it gets you outdoors.

I was at a small lake beach last fall and a guy showed up with a metal detector. He walked right into the water up to his neck and started pulling all sorts of things out of the muck. I had never seen someone take one of those into the water before.

Mt Makiling, I would think that old roman coin would be extremely valuable. I'll give you ten bucks for it!
