Thanks everyone for the advice. Judy Ann, I might be in touch after the holidays. I'm definitely interested in giving the hammock thing a fair try.

After her first night sleeping in the Warbonnet she woke up and said that she hadn't slept that good since she left her mother's womb. She actually looks forward to camping again and says the hammock is more comfortable than our bed. I'm not sure if I agree with her there, but I do sleep far more soundly in the Warbonnet than I ever have in a tent. We've joked about stringing up the hammocks in our bedroom.
Sounds quite encouraging, brian. Do you or your wife sleep add a sleeping pad or just as is? I've been suffering from a bad back since college because of a nasty injury back then. I've been wanting to try this out, but a bit worried about how my back will handle it. Any tips will be really appreciated.

We bring our Thermarest pads for insulation if it is supposed to be cool in the evening. We bring them for warmth, not comfort. They add little in the way of comfort as the hammock itself is very comfortable. Our Warbonnets have a double layer bottom and if we need the pad we slip it between the layers. That way it stays in place.

The key to a comfortable hammock to me is one where you can sleep diagonally across it which means you lay flat and not in the U shape. Some hammocks have enough material to allow this, others don't .
