| Yeah, our weather patterns have been out of whack this year too. We have had more rain than we ever have had. Our local campground is flooded and we won't be able to have the fourth of July celebration while camping as we usually do.

| I don't like that type of storm. I don't mind walking in the rain as long as there isn't lightening or thunder around. Then I start seeking shelter ASAP. I have never been able to stand that type of storm and I don't know why.

| So far the god of thunder has spoken but not stopped me. Was out this weekend again in a good storm. Have been luck in that the storms that have hit the 2 out of the last 4 times I have been out start after I had my tarp set up. Only one time was a hiking through a very loud and nasty storm.
I typically won't change plans due to weather as it is hard for me to get the days off work that I want to get out. I still go but do alter where I am going. Good example is last weekend. I usually like to hike up high on ridge lines. Well with a 70% chance of sever weather before I headed out altered where I was going to stay in lower ground that offered a wind buff. Also was very selective on where to camp and did a good look around at trees and chances of a blow over. Yes I got wet but I still enjoyed my weekend.
In short if there is a light rain get out and enjoy you may be surprised hot how nice it can be to hike in the rain. However use caution if all hell is supposed to break loose then stay home. Some of my best weekends I spent most of the time wet and smiling. Just remember to make sure if out in the wet that the temps are warm enough that hypothermia is not an issue.

| Neighbor and his wife just got back from an attempt at running the Middle Fork of the Salmon. River is running higher than anyone ever remembers. They aborted about half way down, left the boats and hiked back to an emergency airfield to be lifted out. Been multiple deaths there this week. One was the boat guide that got pitched out. Probably gasped in the frigid water, swallowed it and drowned. One of the passengers took the oars and another grabbed the guy out of the water, went to work doing cpr but to no avail.

| I'm sorry to hear that, Grandpa. We lost a lady last year to a storm that carried her trailer downstream. The trailer broke up and they finally found her body about 2 weeks later. She was 71 and in good health, living by herself. Water is a force to reckon with.
When I was in college, one of the girls on our college soccer team was struck by lightening while trying to get off of the field in a storm that came up suddenly. She died and I've never forgotten it.

| We are looking forward to a beautiful 4th of July weekend coming up. We had a slight chance of rain but that dropped off late last night. It is going to be great and I for one can not wait.

| I personally love a late night rain or thunder storm when I'm camping. The only time I do not like the rain when camping is when it starts raining right as I'm packing up my tent. That just means when I get home I have to open it right back up. This year I have had to set it up inside my living room to dry once already. It has been a wet one that is for sure.
Last year camping one time we got nailed quite hard by a storm. Rangers came through and let people know there was a tornado watch in effect. We thought it through and checked our surroundings and decided to stick it out. Many campers ended up in their cars or leaving. We stuck it out with our tent and tarp and woke up bone dry. It was a very good storm. I could see where a water stream could have ran right into/under our tent. But I had already thought of that and used our camping chairs to direct the water around. The next morning we strolled the campground and saw that the site next to ours had a large tree down covering most the whole site. It was a risk but we thought it through and ended up ok. Might think twice next time. Then again if we had left we would have been riding a motorcycle in the storm, which I think would have been more of a risk.
