I've been here for a little while, but I feel I'm still pretty new here.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Thanks for sharing your campfire. I may be headed to chapel hill in a day or 2. Just how hot is it. I would be coming down from western pa. Do you know any nice places to hike? I have been to enos river state park and a small comm. park just off 51.

Occoneechee Mountain and Ulmstead State Park are close to Chapel Hill. Temps here are 90s/70s, but the good news is that the daily thunderstorms are supposed to be gone by Sunday. :-)

Have a safe trip!

Okay, this is my 16th post, so let's see if this works.
This was the 3rd day of a sojourn thru the Superstitions in AZ last year.
I call this one Nose Hair.
If you look closely, you will see I had forgot to take a razor on this trip (Yes, I generally shave on backpacking trips. I've been told that is weird)

edit: cool, it worked

Here's a picture of a pretty lake. This is one of my favorite pictures I ever took because:

A) It doesn't suck too bad

B) It was one of my favorite trips I've taken so far for various reasons.

This is a photo me at the annual backpacker drunkfest in Colorado two years ago.
Don't go to Colorado unless you have to...squirrels are a real problem at campsites.

Golly Joe, the only job opening that I've ever seen around here was for someone to make sure that the photos are G-Rated. Jason would probably love a volunteer. PM him!!! Be a team player!!!

Awesome Red Dog!!! Otherworldly. Hard to believe that there is so much geological diversity in our nation.
Thanks for the nose hair warning in the previous picture...I got the post-it note up in time! I have never seen cactus like that.

Thanks for sharing how beautiful your neck of the woods is. Can't wait to head over that way!
