Default Work and camping.

There is always a friend who takes his laptop with him to do some work while we are camping, in my opinion it kind of defeats the purpose of getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the first place.
What do you think?

I take mine because I am self employed and may occasionally need to check in. It might defeat the purpose but if I didn't take it I wouldn't be able to go anywhere at all.

Yes I think it defeats the purpose also! My mom does this too and I think it is silly. I have only taken mine one time, about 5 years ago but that was before I had a GPS, so we used it to find places to go or stay on our road trip.

Evergreen evergreen evergreen....... hahaha I feel like if I disagree with you I'm gonna be pickin on you! hahaha

Different strokes for different folks......... I'll tell you one thing.... if its a choice between having to go to the office instead of being able to go camping....... vs. being able to go camping but take a laptop with you so you can get a couple things done...... I'd pick option 2

Some people enjoy a good book while camping..... some enjoy sleeping or hiking or eating or fishing or doing absolutely nothing.... some might enjoy surfing the web while out in mother nature.... maybe he is blogging about his awesome experience.... maybe he is googling what the area has to offer...... maybe its to chat with others.... who knows. If it makes him happy thats all that matters. Don't make yourself un-happy thinking about what hes doing that doesn't seem right to you. Enjoy what you do

Happy camping

I think I'd be irked if someone brought their laptop along with them camping with me. Part of the reason I go camping is to unplug and get away into nature. I mean, I only bring my phone with me for emergencies.

If I had work I had to do, I'd go hiking, go home, and then get the work done. I don't think I could be very productive at a camp site, and it would ruin my de-stressing while I didn't accomplish very much.

This is an oil and water situation for me.

I'm a random blogger so during camping I'd still bring my laptop with me. I don't think it could ruin my camping time by just blogging my experiences at the camp and uploading pictures of the nature.

Same here, if I go camping than I make it so that I don't need to work on that weekend or trip. Our brains are to hooked on information, we need to relax from time to time. I don't see the point of the trip if you are stressed about meeting the deadline.

Everybody has the right to their opinion Gracy as long as they express it in a civil fashion, as far as picking on me goes, well you could try at your own risk . On a more serious note I was talking about people who work through the howl trip, I'd rather stay home in that case than waste a trip, I wasn't even considering people who write an article in half an hour or check up on local facts.

Having to work the whole trip seems sad....... but also I can't think of a more relaxing environment to get work done hahah

I really think to each is own. I just don't like when people give other people a hard time for how they do things they enjoy...... know what I mean

I have to agree with Gracy on this one. If your family and friends are going camping and ask you to go sure you want to go, but some people don't have the option of making sure they don't have any work to do so they can take some time off. I would much rather try to get any work I had done around fun times at camp then spend my whole time at my office plugging away and miss the trip entirely.
