Default You don't have to go far....

Some people have camping equipment just sitting there because they think they have to make a big production out of going camping. Heck - when we get bored, we just camp in our own backyard! We do a bonfire, set up a tent, and voila! instant campground! Just be sure and check if a bonfire is allowed where you live, but otherwise, you should be able to camp out anytime!

Sultry summer nights will see me sleeping out on the deck. The Missus prefers the a/c inside the house, but I find I have a raw throat if I sleep indoors for several nights in a row with the a/c on.

Absolutely. How many times did you camp out in your back yard as a kid?

As a kid honestly, I lived in a really rough area. We had three cats poisoned and one shot, lost several cars to theft, and really-you wouldn't let your kid sleep out unless you were lying next to them with a gun.

So this is new to me. We take a lot of advantage now of the fact that we have a nice home in a safe area, and like sleeping out as often as we can.

My brother and I have been trying to get our nephew into camping and hiking and such. Once the weather warms up, we're considering doing a trial run of camping in my parents' back yard, just to see how he deals with sleeping outside at night. It's not the same as the middle of the woods, but sometimes you need to take baby steps.
