Default Your first camping trip

How young were you when you went on your first camping trip? Was it with your family or with friends? Have you ever went camping with the Boy/Girl Scouts?

9 years old in our backyard with old bed sheets...clothes pins, 2 sticks cut from a willow tree and a dog. Yep I was on a true wilderness camp out back then. My MOM even prepared me a paper bag late snack and always had a new fresh set of batteries in the old flashlight.

My parents took us on camping trips from when we were very young, so I don't really remember my first. The first time I really felt like I was truly "camping," though, was with my mother and extended family on a beach where we had to bring our own water, dig our own "toilets", and for the first time I had to entertain myself with something other than handheld video games because there was nowhere to charge the console! I think I was a teen by then.

My first camping trip was our back yard also. Why pay for a place when you have 80 acres! I also went camping when I was in boy scouts and loved it, I learned a lot from those trips.

My first trip was when I was 12 and in boy scouts. Ever since that trip I have loved to camp and go backpacking! I love the outdoors and just wish I had more time to enjoy it.

The first time I camped I was a baby. My parents used to frequent a small campground and our summers were always spent there. At first it was all tenting but when I was like 12-13 they got there first camper but I would pitch a tent behind it. I also camped quite a bit with the scouts in all seasons.

The first time I camped was in a tent behind my grandparents' house when I was a kid. I barely remember it. I must have been 6 or 7. I think my older brother set the thing up.

I wish I live in a place in which my kids could camp out back. I have a very big backyard, but I wouldn't want them to camp there.

I don't remember the first time because I was very small. We then stopped for a long time and it wasn't until I was a lot older when I started camping again.

I didn't realize that it was camping until I read Refrigerator's post. We did that too in our backyard at about that age. We gathered used tarps and sheets and built a tent, and we cooked our meals in there every weekend. It was fun.
