Riding to speed along birthing process

I have a friend who is due today (first child). She just posted pics on Facebook of her on the 4-wheeler. I told her she was nuts! She thinks that all the bouncing from riding the trails at her house will help her go into labor. Is she crazy or what?

Probably, but if she is anything like my wife, it is "lets try it and get this over with".

Most times I hear people walking around to try and speed up the process of labor, not out riding bikes or anything like that. Then again there are myths of all types so maybe it works for some?

My niece was a few days late and her Dr. had her bouncing on this big ball to get things moveing along.
I guess it worked, she deleivered the next day with no problems.
I would be more worried about a wreck and hurting herself and/or the baby.

Old pickup trucks and bumpy dirt roads work well too. At least that was the old wives tale when I was younger. At least it sounds safer than 4 wheeling. Babies come when babies are ready to come. Period!

I am not going to say she is crazy for the bouncing idea, I have heard this several times before. But yes she is crazy for her chosen bouncing method. There are much safer ways.

It sounds like someone has been listening to stories told by old women. Could be a dangerous practice.

Bouncing on a ball is one thing. Going around in a 4-wheeler is another. Then again, I guess when it comes to labor, women would do anything just to get it over and done with.
