| Why can't I ride a bike? I got to the point one time where I cursed the bike because my husband was nagging that I should learn. I told him I couldn't and he was insistent that it was easy. I've been trying to learn since I was a little girl. I'm now 35 and still can't learn it.

| Practice, practice and more practice is what you need to do. Don't give up and don't let anyone push you faster than you can learn. I bet right now you are just fed up and discouraged. It's a mind over matter thing right now.

| I agree, it's a good one. Why didn't I think about that? I'd love to try it. Perhaps a vodka would be even more effective. Will give it a try, guys.

| Can't or won't? I have never met a person who couldn't learn to ride a bike. I have met plenty who won't because they freak out at the first wobble or refuse to fall down.

| I can accept that some people may not be able to learn because of a problem with balance, or other physical difficulty. However, you'd know that you had that. I agree-find a patient teacher and keep at it-gently.

| I saw a guy on the beach the other day on a tricycle. He had a flag and a horn and was having a great time with the family.
Many of us started slowly with training wheels until we got a sense of balance. Kids always seem to pick up things easier than adults. If you are by any chance a little embarassed in front of your husband, but are still willing to try (minus the vodka), put some training wheels on your bike, put a helmet on and practice on your own time. You could always surprise him one day by asking him to take a ride with you (minus the extra wheels). Pack a couple of sandwiches and water and surprise the $--- out of him!!!
Tell us how your adventure goes and good luck!

| I agree with Cowtown. Bottled courage and beer muscles are all you need. Just be careful on the dosage.

| If you are determined, you can do it. I would try different things to make yourself feel more comfortable on a bike. Maybe get one with smaller wheels so the fall isn't so far. Try one with wider tires and go to a secluded spot to practice. Good luck.... once you do it you will love it!
