Default Protective Gear

It seems like no one around here wears protective gear when they go out on their ATV's. They say that it gets in their way. Do you think protective gear is important?

Not really. I think wearing a bunch of protective gear takes all the fun out of it. If you are smart and know what you are doing you do not need it anyway.

Yes, we wear our helmets, with a full roll cage and shoulder harnes.

If you want to survive a wreck I think it is. I have no pity when it comes to people not wearing gear, they are asking for their own injuries and I would not want to hear anyone whine about it after the fact when its very simple to wear proper gear.

I have to agree, I do not think you can think you know enough to prevent an accident. That is why it is called an accident. If you ride and ATV or dirt bike, wear your protective gear.

If you're just putting around on a simple ride, I don't see a need for it. Racing around and negotiating really extreme terrain is a whole other story. You better be prepared!

I have seen first hand a guy if full gear and still break his collar bone and some ribs. A front tire caught on a rock going down a hill and the quad landed on top of him. He would have been in bad shape if he wasn't wearing the helmet and chest guard.
