Bareback Horseriding Has anyone here ever tried it? I've heard it can be an utterly horrible experience, which makes it funny that it's so romanticized. I mean, it has been done before, I'm sure some people do it regularly...how do they do it?

I think you have to be really used to riding to try this. I have done it before when I was younger but it wasn't very comfortable for me. I wouldn't even think about it now that I have gotten older.

To be a good bareback rider requires a lot of balance and definitely good muscle tone in your legs. You have to move at one with your horse. The most bareback riding I have done is from the pasture to the stable.

I can imagine the discomfort and the feel of the horse's every movement with your lower torso. Won't you also get soaked with the horse's perspiration?

I love to ride bareback! I will walk out to the far pasture sometimes to get one of the horses and just jump up on their back and ride them back. My bunch expects this now and I usually just guide them with my legs on one side or the other. I have gone out before and just got on them and let them roam around with me on their back.
