Default Horse Price?

Here's a stupid question: How much does it cost to buy a horse? I never was much into all this stuff but would really like to know this information.

Thanks.

The horse that is in our family was given away by its owner for free, so if you are talking purchase price I got nothing. Now if you are talking what it takes to take care of them, lets just say its not as cheap as a goldfish.

Free is the cheapest I have seen The most expensive horse I ever saw sold for a little over $4 million. He was a Standardbred race horse. Those are the obviously extreme ends of the spectrum, but if you were just looking to get a saddle horse the price would start around $1,000.
