How old for beginner horseback riding lessons? My 7 year old daughter is fascinated with horses and has been begging to take horseback riding lessons. I really don't even know where to start as far as this goes and am dreading finding out how much it will cost. But, let me first ask, is this too young to start riding lessons? If you ride, how old were you when you started? Is there anything specific I should ask when finding a place that offers lessons?

I didn't start riding until I was 13, but I remember when I started that all the other girls were WAY ahead of me and had been riding for years. You're going to want to look around at places that offer horseriding lessons and find someone who has worked with children your daughter's age before.

I was riding ponies by myself when I was 5 or 6. I remember Mother and Father putting me on a pony in nothing except my briefs when I was this age. I ran around half naked all summer long though so it wasn't very surprising. Of course they were there with me.
