Best time to go fishing

What is the best time to go fishing in a boat? Is it better to go fishing at night? What is the best time during the day?

I saw whenever you can go. A lot of people I talk to say the fish are more active on hat days in the morning or evening.

It depends on what you're fishing for. As a general rule I have the best luck the first few hours after sunrise and the last few hours before dark with fish like trout, bass and pike, but they can be caught at other times. I have the best luck with fish like bullheads and walleyes after dark, but they will bite during the day too.

I entirely agree with woodzman...the best fisherman I know are "light of day" kind of guys, though I can never get up that early. I like to go during the twilight and bring home some dinner.

My brother-in-law who's the fisherman in the family sets up his big trips around the full moon. He swears that the fishing is best before dawn when there's a full moon. Anyone else follow this philosophy?

I've always had the best luck first thing in the morning. The fish haven't had much to eat all night and are usually starving.

I'm one of those guys that'll get up at 4 AM to get a good spot for fishing. Ever notice how it's easy to get up at 4 AM to fish but getting up at 6 AM to go to work is a struggle? LOL

I might be located in a different planet?

I have a friend who is a fisherman and it is hard for them to catch fish when there is full moon. They are using lamps to lure fish at night. So when there is a full moon then their lamps will do no good because the surrounding is lit up by the moon.

I have always heard the best time to go fishing is when it is lightly raining. If it isn't raining then you should try to fish in the shade.

I was in the Farmers Almanac and found this:

One hour before and hone hour after high tides, and one hour before and one hour after low ties.

During the morning rise, after sunup for a spell and the evening rise, just before sundown and the hour or so after.

When the barometer is steady or on the rise.

When there is a hatch of flies, caddis flies or mayflies, commonly.

When the breeze is from a westerly quarter rather then from the north or east.

When the water is still or rippled, rather than during a wind.
