I usually use regular worms. It has worked so far and i think it s something that will never change :P. Sometimes i have used small pieces of bread also, can work wonders some days. The only think i don't like is digging the worms

This string seems to be a study in the weirdest bait you have used.

My favorite bait, most oft used, is nightcrawler. However, minnows are best for crappie. Redworms and crickets for bluegill, anything that moves for bass, a rasher of thick bacon for northern pike and muskie, mulberries for carp, as ppine said, grasshoppers for trout or a particularly pungent cheese in calm waters. Catfish can be caught with nightcrawlers but I prefer calve's liver. Perch will take just about anything but fathead minnows seem most effective. These, of course are all live baits and all of these fish can be taken with lures.

My favorite lure is for women: a diamond necklace and a mink coat.

[QUOTE=jason;59902]Never heard of a bar of soap. Any particular brand?
QUOTE]

Never heard of it either but the swamp boat operator said it works for catfish and was his bait of choice. Since the cats are bottom feeders, like very odiferous foods, and since soap is heavy with lard, therefore largely organic, the smell attracts them and they eat it. So I am wondering if this was a story or if it really works.

This thread is another example of why I don't care about catfish or carp.
