Default is this fish ok to eat?

I used to go fishing with my dad when I was really little and I ended up catching a bullhead(?). He had me eat it but I heard that they mostly just eat garbage so they are not really good for eating. Any information would be nice.

If you catch a bullhead in waters that are murky or full of garbage they are definitely not safe to eat. You can always look for clean lakes and catch bullheads at night because they are most active at that time. They're best eaten when filleted, grilled, smoked, any method of cooking you prefer to do with them.

Yes, i think they are safe to east as long as the lake is clean. I believe most fish can be eaten, as long as the source for them is clean.

You can eat bullhead as long as the water is clean, but why would you if you don't have to?

Bullheads from a clean lake with god flowing clean supply stream is what I grew up on.

Fried in cornmeal and served with eggs for breakfast!

Bullheads are safe to eat you just need to make sure that they came from fresh clean water. Like any other fish, it can be dangerous if it came from unclean water.

Bullheads are good eating! Just like Bluegills, easy and fun to catch on light tackle, and great in the skillet!

As long as you are okay with the water it should be fine, I am not a big fish lover myself but its what everyone says. Plus would you really want to eat something that came out of nasty water?

Hi...

They (catfish) are even for sale here in our local supermarkets, filleted and ready to cook.

You can also roast it in a camp fire for some of that nature tasting food trips. Thinking about it makes me want to catch one myself.
