Has anyone ever used a fish trap to catch fish other than minnows? I've heard it said that snares and traps are the best way to catch prey since they do not involve time spent that could otherwise be used doing other tasks. Is it even legal to use a fish trap?

Probably depends on where you are, but in most cases I imagine that it is okay. The trap isn't killing the fish it's just keeping them there till you get back.
Well I think you had better double check the laws on that one. I think it is illegal to trap most fish. If you look at the little booklets they give you that have all the rules and regulations, it will tell you 'how' the fish can be 'caught'. Better safe then sorry.
