Default Fishing Tours

Have you ever taken a fishing tour? Did you find it particularly helpful or is it something you wouldn't recommend? I saw one offered nearby and thought it might be fun since I don’t have much fishing knowledge.

I've salmon fished with guides up in Quebec. You can't fish on this river without them, and they do know how to find and raise fish. Even with very good guidance, I've only hooked up once with an Atlantic Salmon, and it threw the hook after a very nice run.

Did catch an 18 inch Brook Trout up there though. You have to keep the trout, since they eat salmon fry.

I'd highly recommend a "good" guide.

I have never heard the term "fishing tour". Are you refering to fishing with a guide?

We went on a sea fishing tour off the coat of Florida. We had a great time, learned a lot from the expert fisherman and caught a bounty of fish. We even cooked the fish on the boat for lunch, it was delicious. All in all I would definitely recommend it.

We have gone out in the sound to croaker fish with a captain numerous times, but he was there to help with all of us in the family more than to guide us. The captain has taught us some tips from time to time, as well as taught us how to cook certain fish. I wouldn't compare him to a salmon fishing tour guide.

The word "tour" keeps popping up here.

I wasn't on a tour. I was fishing the Grand Cascapedia River in Quebec. The fishing rights on this river are all privately held. In order to fish, you have to use one of their guide, as well as pay for the priviledge to fish.

The guide took us to the pools we had rented, showed us what fly to try, and told us the best way to fish the pool.

They pointed out salmon, and also salmon lies. If we hooked up, they gave us advice about how to play the fish, and help land it if we brought it in.

They also talked about the history of the stream and the area and pointed out interesting things.

As I said, I'd highly recommend using a "Good" guide. All these folks were good. They knew the water and the fish.

They don't come cheap, they don't take a lot of crap, even from millionaires (and there are a good many millionaires who fish this stream), but if you're willing to work hard, they will bust their tails to get you on fish.

Hi...

I love to row. Yet I've fished with licensed guides, mostly to leave the 'driving' to somebody else. It's nice to sit back and relax sometimes.

In each case, the guides were useful and helpful. Didn't need to carry our own gear, either.

Even caught some fish...!!
