Default Miniature fishing rods and reels

One of the brothers bought all the men in the family these adorable little fishing rods and reels that were about two feet long. Everyone was fishing wrapping paper, ribbons and paper snowmen in the middle of all the gift-giving and unwrapping. What a sight it was. I think the poles were mostly decorative or just toys, but they were a lot of fun on Christmas Eve night.

Were they ice fishing poles? There are little short poles made just for ice fishing.

I bet these would work in a pinch. But I also guess you can make a rod from a branch very quickly that is way better that these rods.

I remember those old plastic Sportsman's fishing poles that cost about $20 each. I suppose these weren't like that. I'll bet it was fun fishing through all that paper for something to latch onto. Maybe they were minnow rods or something? Just teasing!

I think I have seen the fishing poles your talking about at D!cks Sporting Goods store. They do closely resemble Ice Fishing Poles. I have one and use it for "Perch Jerking" Bluegills when I need some bait for Bruiser sized Blue and Flathead Catfishing.

Does anyone remember the portable fishing pole? It was a compact pole and it fit in your glove compartment. It had a mini tackle box inside its handle so you could just pull it out and start fishing.

I remember The Pocket Fisherman by Ron Popeil.

I have a small microlight spincast reel, a 5 piece graphite spinning rod and a (deck of card sized) box for lures which I will take on short backpacking trips where i know I will be near good lakes and ponds. I take more when on dedicated fishing trips and no gear when on long distance backpacking trips.

They might have been ice fishing poles.
