Default Winner for kids

I found a winner, we took the kids to a friend’s pond yesterday and I swear every time they dropped their line they caught something. They had a ball! I got a bit sick of taking the fish off the line, so that is the next step, mastering taking the fish off. It was a super fun day!

Were they fishing with just worms? When I was a kid I caught a lot of small fish. But the last several times I've done it, I haven't caught a thing. They just take my bait. At least your children had a blast. Did they catch anything large enough to eat or was it catch and release?

Kudos to your kiddies. I have several ponds on my ranch with ten different species of fish but lots of bluegill. Kids love to fish them because the action is so good.

SpecerT, use a smaller hook.

Yeah, lots of ponds around here so full of bluegill you can catch one on every cast. Great for kids. My son will pull in 5 in a row without losing his worm. We just throw them back because they aren't very big. #10 hook, a garden worm, and a bobber lead about 2.5' long.

I wish I was this lucky, anytime I have ever gone out I always have the worst luck. I guess kids are lucky that way maybe its something we grown out of or something?
