Thanks for the info on netting for the awning. Where were you able to find it? I camped in a much lighter tent for a year before purchasing the Kodiak and read everything I could about taking care of all my gear including watching out for anything sharp, but you never know when something could rip the canvas. Thank you for the tip on repairs. So far I have been lucky! I may look for a cover for those screws on the side similar to what came on my hiking poles. I was unable to lift the bar onto the screw myself the last time I took it out, but it did well anyway. It is an awesome family tent or perfect for a vacation tent for one! I use an old bath math both inside and outside the doors, spread out an old blanket to protect the floor and put a heavy duty tarp beneath before setting it up. I also wipe the floors and sweep off the entire tent before packing it up. I usually let it hang in the sun to make sure that it is completely dry once I get home.
Fine looking tent you got there! I love mine and have used it everywhere I can car camp. I once carried it downhill to a lakeside site and had to get some help carrying it back up when the handcart broke. It has done well in windy conditions with large screw into the ground stakes that I got from Home Depot. I basically use them on the windward side. I've used it in all seasons and it is great especially with all the windows. No problems with noseeums while coastal camping. I have never packed it up wet and have always made sure it was dry before putting away. I put a tarp down under the tent to protect the investment. Please let me know how your family enjoys it and any helpful tips you discover.
