We all know how much kids grow when they are in the outdoors. Good for them, the family and everyone. Would it make sense to push this angle more? Make school AND the outdoors a place for learning?

Welcome, Daniel - you have come to a great site.

There are several jurisdictions that have an Outdoor Ed program alongside other curricula. I know there are several secondary schools that have Algonquin Park Canoe Trips each year and there are other outdoor Leadership programs that are available. Programs like LNT are all part of the learning. Universities are now offering four-year degree programs in Outdoor Adventure Leadership and other similar routes of study. The problem is that many of our school boards want to chop programs as a budget-saving measure. We can save these valued learning opportunities and experiences by making our voices heard.

depends on the kids.
I would only try to teach kids if they are really interested.
The last thing you want is for them to dread another outdoor lesson.
