How did you learn to camp?

Our family never really did the boy scout/girl scout stuff, even though we always bought girl scout cookies. I grew up learning just bits and pieces from those around me and a couple of online sites (which I still look at). Is it all about experience just getting out and doing it?

I believe getting out and experiencing it all is basically the only way to learn to camp. You can read all day but I don't think you will learn the skills you are going to really need.
