It got up to 60+ degrees yesterday, and we were eager to get the canoe out. Plus I needed to clean the dust and cobwebs off. I leave my canoe sitting on the strong back that I built it on, so all I had to do was roll it out to the trailer. We went to our local lake to put in. This time of year the lake is drawn down several feet. TVA claims it's drawn down in anticipation for heavy spring rains. The sky was heavy with clouds, but rain was not predicted. We followed the shore and made up images of what some of the rocks looked like. Lots of triceratops and T-Rexs. We wanted to paddle out to some islands for a little exploring, but there were lots of fishing boats out there so we decided to stay away from that area. we had a few islands closer inland that we enjoyed exploring and picking flint stone, and I think a geode. We had a good afternoon of paddling and exploring some islands. I don't like when they drop the water, it looks awful but it's great for rock hunting. It's getting darker and the clouds were looking heavier so we headed in.
