Does anyone here like to take tubing trips down the river? I used to do this with friends a lot when I didn't have small children. We'd strap an ice chest to a big tube, and all just float down the river. It was a lot of fun!

Tubing...that sounds more my speed than white water rafting and such. I could just imagine lazily floating down some beautiful river on a warm day! You could have liquid refreshment and sandwiches for lunch in your cooler...love it!

we tubed down the pigeon river in pigeon forge tennessee and it was a great time! cheap, too. they haul a group upstream n dump em out, then pick em up at the get-out place. i think it was about $10 a person. well worth it to me

Oh, yes, these types of outings are very affordable! I can't go out and do this anymore since I have small children, but I'm sure we'll do it again when they get older!

The only tubing I have done is on the Grand River in Ohio. We had a lot of fun though. It was pretty calm when we went. I love to go tubing somewhere else sometime. Where is the best place you all have been tubing?

There are a few rivers around here that you can go tubing down. Its a great way to spend a relaxing day. The first time I went I bought a big old tube with a backrest and a small drink compartment. It was great for 75% of the river where you didn't have to paddle to move.

haven't done it although by what you guys are saying about it I guess I'll just have to give it a go once in my life atleast. It sounds quite relaxing and something everyone should try at least once lol.

haha I gotta try this. Its true I've never heard of tubing until now. Quite bizarre actually since many people on this forum seem to know alot about it. I guess its just not common in my area.

Tubing is an exciting way to experience the thrill of high speed watersports without the need for special skills or training and as such is popular with all ages and types. Tubing is where a large inner tube or rubber ring is tethered to a power watercraft and then one or more tube riders, or tubers, are towed at high speeds across large rivers, lakes or coastal waters.

Tubing, also known as inner tubing or even toobing, is a recreational activity of riding an inner tube, either on water, snow, or through the air. The tubes themselves are also known as "donuts" or "biscuits" because of their shape.

Tubing on water generally consists of two forms: towed and free-floating, also known as river tubing.

Towed tubing usually takes place on a large body of water such as a lake or river. One or more tube riders (often called "tubers") tether their tubes to a powered watercraft such as a motor boat or a personal watercraft. The riders are then towed through the water by the watercraft.

My husband talked me into doing this when we went to Western North Carolina. It was a real slow stream. It was absolutely beautiful. I loved it.
