Around here there are lots and lots of wild boars. They were brought in to local farms for hunting. Of course they got out. There are now reports that they have been attacking people who are in the wilderness. What do you do if you are being chased by a pack of wild boars?

For the sake of self preservation, I would shoot first and ask questions later. I don't think there's a park ranger out there that would fault you for that.

Boars cannot climb trees. So I hit nearest tree. I may be stuck up there a while, but I will still be around.

I think mostly I'd be confused as to why there were boars around here. There aren't even any pig farms sort of nearby, so I'd be sort of shocked to see wild pigs.

Once that passed, I'd probably try to climb a tree or steep rock. The rock might necessitate smacking away at a couple of boar heads with my walking stick, but it's made of strong hardwood. The tree would mean I'd be hanging out there a while.

Wild pigs tend to avoid people unless we come near to their den, in which they will fight to the death. We can avoid these pigs when we see them or run away if we can. Climbing trees is the best alternative if ever we are attacked by wild pigs. Make sure that trees don't have beehives. :)

I have no experience with wild boars at all, but climbing a tree seems like a good escape plan. Then ... sharpen up a branch and git me some bacon :hungry:

Yes, climbing a tree is the best solution other than a large caliber lead enema.

I think it was a Survivorman episode where Les was in an area where there were wild boar and he said if attacked by one, all he would have to do is climb a tree because boar cannot look up.

Some places have a problem because private farms brought them in. Now many states are banning that. Find out if you can hunt them or trap them. If you can they can be wroth something. For example there is a group in Cleveland, OH that pays for each pelt as and incentive to hunt them before they become a problem.

Climbing the nearest tree would be the first thing I could do. I'm afraid of pack of wild boars chasing me and a rifle would be useless when losing concentration to kill the target.

You guys are full of information and quite funny! Thanks for the tips! If I am ever being chased by boars I will climb a tree and use my pocket knife to make spears!
