I am just curious when your regular camping season starts. With younger kids we usually don't get out before mid may. It is usually too cold prior to that for the kids to be out and about.
As soon as either I or my brother say to the other, "Hey, want to go camping this weekend?" This will likely be pretty soon.
We live in coastal Georgia and are lucky enough that if you are dedicated enough you could camp all year round. We have a campout in Nov. for our Royal Ambassador boys and have had it as cold as 28 degrees and still survived, of course by 9am it gets into the 60s/70s
We are gearing up to go soon. I am trying to get all my stuff together and see if anything needs repair or replacing before we head out.
Mine ends because I do not like the cold weather. I am hopping that we can start going next weekend or the weekend after that. I am just waiting for it to get warm enough. We do seem to be having thunder storms a lot. But hopefully that will pass.
Here in the pacific northwest most camping spots in the mountains are under 10-15 feet of snow. But if we can find a lower elevation spot we will camp anytime of the year. Cold is no problem. Me and my wife have a tent heater and good sleeping bags. Places like the redwoods are cool to camp at. Its wet out but no one seems to go during the winter months,so it is fun to camp there. The redwoods are low elevation so no large snow accumulation to worry about
Mine picks up around this time, but I do some camping during the colder months as well. As a kid we only went camping in fall and winter, so snow on the ground is just the picture I have of camping.
I have never camped in the winter, but it is something I want to try, we just need better equipment. I fear getting too cold so we tend to stay home in the winter months.
If the forecast ever has more than two days in a row of sun in a row, that will be the signal for me. Right now, snow is still in the forecast!
We camp year round, dont mind the cold in winter and the dogs love the cold weather. My husband and I dont have kids or plan on having any. We like the freedom of picking up and going when ever we want.
