Outdoor Fall Fun
Ready for cooler weather and being able to enjoy the great outdoors without the risk of sweating? There are lots of activities that you can do outside once the fall weather arrives. Take advantage of the fall by checking out these fun activities.
Pitch a Tent
Camping is a fun activity for the whole family. Whether you are ready to hike several miles into the woods or pitch a tent in your own backyard, camping provides the opportunity to be near nature and away from the everyday ho-hum of watching TV or being stuck inside. Camping equipment is also easy to find and more affordable than ever before. Many home improvement or discount department stores carry tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, camping coolers, grills, lanterns, and other camping equipment for very affordable prices. Doing some online research and price comparison shopping will help to identify the type of equipment in your price range.
Hike or Bike
Do some research to find hiking or biking trails that are within a short drive of your hometown. Hiking is a very low-cost but fun way to spend time with friends or family while enjoying nature and getting some exercise. You are often treated to a beautiful view on a hike, whether it’s a waterfall or a mountain range in the distance. Biking is also a fun way to get some exercise while enjoying the fall weather and the great outdoors. If you do not have a bike of your own, many towns have bike rental shops that will rent you a bike for mere dollars a day. Whether you’re biking on nature trails or on the sidewalks in your own town, bicycling is a fun and easy way to get out and enjoy the cooler temperatures in the fall season.
Cast that line
Fishing provides endless hours of entertainment in the great outdoors. You don’t even need a boat to cast a line and see what’s swimming around in a local lake or river. If you have a boat, you can often put it into a local lake or pond for free, and fishing equipment is much more affordable than it once was. Buy some live bait at a local fishing store, or purchase plastic bait almost anywhere and cast your line today! Fishing is a fun family activity, but can also be done alone for some peace and quiet.
Water Babies Beware
There are lots of activities (other than fishing) to do in the early fall that involve water. Kayaks, canoes, or white water rafts are a source of endless entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. If you do not own a kayak or canoe, do some research on outdoor shops that may rent one to you. Or, call around to find where the best white water rafting is. Usually, in the early fall, the water is still warm enough to ride some waves while enjoying nature.
Game On
Find a neighboring family or invite some friends over for a backyard game of baseball, football, or kickball. Fire up the grill for lunch, and afterwards, work off some of those calories with a friendly team sport game that will get everyone moving and allow for some friendly competition.
As you can see, there are lots of activities that can be enjoyed outdoors during the cooler fall weather. Taking full advantage of the less extreme temperatures can result in increased activity and fun! Staying active during this season is easy with all of the possibilities listed above. Enjoy the fall!
