What to Look For in a Deer Hunting Outfitter

Even when you are a hunting enthusiast, finding the perfect deer hunting outfitter is not always an easy thing to accomplish. There are several things to think about when looking for a hunting outfitter.

First of all, what kind of animals are there to be hunted on the deer hunting outfitter’s property? If you would want to hunt more than just deer, are there other animals there to be hunted? Some people that are regular deer hunters desire to hunt animals such as elk, moose, bear, and etcetera. You will need to find out if these animals are available to be hunted on the deer hunting outfitter’s property (if you so choose to hunt them.)

Another thing to think about is whether or not you will want to take a group of hunters with you. Does the facility limit the number of hunters that can hunt animals at any one time? Will the deer hunting outfitter give you a discount per person if multiple people show up to hunt?

Does the deer hunting outfitter charge a lot of money in order for you to hunt on their property? What are the prices like for allowing you the opportunity to hunt on their land? If you are traveling a long distance to a hunting outfitter, be sure to also include fuel costs in the price of the deer hunting trip.

Are there going to be a lot of places to stay on the outfitter property? Or is there a possibility that you may have to rent a place to stay while going on the hunting trip? Maybe you could save some money if you knew a relative or friend that lived by the place you were going to hunt at - they may allow you to stay a few days rent-free while you are on your hunting trip.

Is the deer hunting outfitter going to be open for business for the entire year, or are their facilities only available for short time periods during the year? If you are going to plan on taking a few vacation days off in order to go on an awesome hunting trip, you will want to make sure that the facility you plan on hunting at will be open for business on the days that you don’t have to go to work.

If you are going to be deer hunting, or hunting for any other animal on the hunting outfitter’s property, you will need to make sure that you have permits for the animals you hunt (if necessary.) Check with the hunting outfitter facility to make sure they either have the permits available for the hunting of their animals, or know a place where you can purchase them. Consider the permits to be an added expense onto your hunting trip (if they are required.)

Some deer hunting outfitters may give you a per day discount on their prices if you are able to take a longer hunting trip and stay a certain number of days. Be sure to ask the hunting outfitter if they have any discounts available for you if you stay for an extended time period.
