Dripping Springs State Park is one of the best parks to visit in the state of Oklahoma, as it combines a number of fun outdoor activities to provide a getaway destination that many people will grow to know and love. The park has all of the natural beauty that you could want, with the main attractions being the two lakes, where many people come to go fishing or boating. There is more than just the water, however, as the park also provide a lot of open spaces for picnicking or playing games outside, and is situated near many trails that are great for hiking, jogging, or cycling. No matter what you want to do in the outdoors, you can do it at Dripping Springs State Park, and your trip will be a very relaxing escape from the hectic, fast-paced life of the city.

The two lakes first and foremost provide a place to swim. Children can play on the waves or on the beach, and adults can watch them without fear; the lakes are small and calm most of the time, an ideal setting without much in the way of danger. Both lakes are great places to sit beside and play in, with water that is generally warm and inviting. Picnics beside the lake give you the chance to sit and watch the boats moving about on the water while you eat, and if you are lucky you may just watch as someone catches a trophy fish.

Fishing is the next activity that can be enjoyed upon the lake, and there is a real chance of a trophy fish being caught, as the lake was designated as the first lake in Oklahoma to be considered a trophy bass lake. The docking area has lights, so you will be able to put your boat in at any time of day; you can be ready to fish by the time the sun comes up. The lake is full of bass, and fishermen over the years have had a great deal of success. Some people even choose to fish right off of the dock itself, deciding not to bother with a boat; this is a good way to go fishing if you have children who are just getting into the sport.

Boating is also fun, for those who want to get out on the lake and experience the feeling of moving on the water, but who do not care about fishing. Many people take small sailboats and run them before the wind, or tow tubes behind their powerboats that can provide an exhilarating ride for those on board. The lake is not huge, but it is large enough for these activities, and can provide for a lot of fun in the hot summer months, when you may need to get in the lake just to cool off, no matter what you decide to do once you are there.

If you are having a family reunion or some other sort of gathering, the park is set up very well to accommodate you and your group. There are large picnic areas where you can spread out blankets, and there are picnic tables that you can use if you would prefer that. There are also pavilions where you can be protected from the rain and grills so that you do not have to bring your own in order to make hot dogs and hamburgers.

There are hiking trails around the park, and biking trails as well. These are not the most challenging of trails, but they offer the opportunity to get outside and move about in nature; it is sometimes nice to have a break from the RV camp and to just lose yourself in the lush beauty of the forest.

If you would like to contact the park to find out more, or to see what they have to offer in a more in-depth fashion, you can call them or visit a website. Their official phone number is 918-756-5971. They do not have an official website, but basic information can be found on http://www.stateparks.com/drippingspringsok.html.
