Bothe-Napa Valley State Park
The Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is located near the Napa valley Wine Country. It offers camping, pick nicking, swimming during the summer, hiking trails, and horseback riding during the spring, summer and fall months. It also has some of the most beautiful trees like the Douglas fir, Tanoaks and madiones. There are also facilities for hikers; biker’s and disabled patrons in the camping areas. A visitor can stroll the Ritchy Canyon and Redwood trails and visit the beautiful canyons.
The Bothe-Napa Valley State Park has some of the most beautiful animals like coyotes, deer, foxes, raccoons, gray squirrels, bobcats, woodpeckers and owls that can be seen all throughout the day and in the evening hours. Visitors can also bird watch and there have been sightings of several unique birds at the park like the Canada Goose, Great Blue Heron, Turkey Vulture, Coopers hawk, Peregrine Falcon, California Quail, Band Tailed Pigeon and the Humming Bird. During the winter months the park experiences mild and wet weather and during the summer months it is hot and dry and the temperatures can climb to 105 degrees.
The Bothe-Napa Valley State Park has elevations that can reach up to 2,000 feet, and the slopes can have canyons or brushes. The tall Redwood trees are usually located near the creeks and springs. The Geology of the parks lands is volcanic and it is mostly covered by plants. The park is located near the beautiful Native American Garden and the trails consist of the Ritcher Canyon Trail, Redwood Trail, Coyote Peak Trail, South Fork Trail and the History Trail.
The Bothe-Napa Valley State Park can be utilized all year round; the beautiful forests, trees, trails and camping grounds are great for putting a smile on anyone’s face. Children and parents alike can enjoy themselves with any one of the many activities at the park. School children and groups can reserve camping grounds in the park and turn a day into a weekend of exploration, fun and joy. While enjoying the beautiful park grounds visitors can also sneak over and take a wine tour and taste some of the best wines in California at some of the wonderful wineries.
The Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is located at 3801 St. Helena Highway North in Calistoga, CA. It is located 5 miles north of St. Helena, 4 miles south of Calistoga on Highway 29/128. You have to call 707-942-4575 for park hours. The park is open all year long. It cost $18-$36 for a bus load of 16 -25 people. A car cost $4.00 for the day and campsites are $16.00 per family. Camping reservations can be made by calling 1-800-444-park. There are no utility hookups or dump station. There are restrooms, with hot water, pay showers and flush toilets.
There are 40 camp sites for cars and RV’s up to 31 feet and trailers up to 24 feet. There are 9 walk in campsites and they all have tables, cupboards, and stoves. Firewood can be purchased at the kiosk at the park entrance.
