The Benjamin Discovery air rifle is at the top of it’s class. It comes in at a much lower price point than many of the more expensive European precharged pneumatic (PCP) guns and is easier to pump and requires less pounds of pressure per square inch to operate. This feature alone makes the gun a leader in its class.

The rifle specs out at 5.13 pounds and features a barrel length of 24.25″. The overall length of the rifle is 39.0″. It comes standard with a fiber optic front sight and a rear sight that is adjustable for both wind and elevation. The two-stage nonadjustable trigger clocks in at approximately 3.75 pounds pull pressure. The stock is made of hardwood and the barrel is rifled steel.

The gun comes in either .177 or .22 caliber. The weight is the same for both calibers as is the length of the gun. The .177 caliber rifles features a velocity of up to 1000 feet per second while the .22 caliber rifles fires at up to 900 feet per second.

Precharged pneumatic guns are typically complicated to get operating but the Benjamin Discovery simplifies things to the point where you can be ready to shoot in a matter of 5 minutes. Simply hook the pump up to the gun, pump it around 100 pumps to reach full pressure and fire away. The minimal 2000 psi of air pumped into the gun will last you up to 35 or so shots before it needs to be refilled.

The Benjamin Discovery comes standard with a hand pump which easily pumps the gun in comparison to other PCP rifles. You also have the option of connecting the gun to a scuba tank or a carbon fiber tank for even easier pumping. The hand pump works well and indicates when the gun has reached maximum pressure.
If you get tired of pumping, you can switch to CO2 and continue to shoot. In order to make the switch, an inexpensive adapter is required. Using the adapter, the Benjamin Discovery can easily be filled from a paintball tank and offers more shots than filling the gun using the hand pump.

This gun is fun to shoot and is accurate enough for target-plinking or pest control. Dial in a good scope and you’ll be hitting your targets with even more accuracy. No matter what you use it for, this air rifle is a great deal at a low price point compared to other guns in its class.
