Counterfeit Leupold rifle scopes have been selling like hotcakes via the internet lately. If imitation is a form of flattery then these cheap China-made knockoffs are a testament to the quality and desirability of Leupold scopes.

Leupold has been in the business of manufacturing of making telescopic sights, red dot sights, binoculars and other optical devices for over a hundred years. Operating out of Beaverton, Oregon, the company counts members of the US Army, the Navy Seals, and the Secret Service among its growing list of patrons.

A recent offering by the company is the Leupold VX-3 3.5-10×40. According to official specifications, the VX-3 is measured at 12.6 inches, an eyepiece length of 3.20 inches and an objective length of 3.60 inches. Field of vision at 100 yards is 29.7 feet with the minimum 3.5X magnification and 11.0 feet when maxed out at 10X magnification.

The Leupold VX-3 3.5-10×40 comes in a simple, black colored box printed with the Leupold name and logo. A small sticker on the side indicates the scope model number and other identification codes. It is encased in a Styrofoam case and comes with as set of basic instructions. The company clearly stands behind the quality and the integrity of its products as the scope comes with a full lifetime warranty.

Weighing in at a mere 13.0 ounces, the scope mounts comfortably on just about any rifle. Having a mid-range selection of magnification levels makes the VX-3 very adaptable in different environments and shooting conditions. For those who like to rough it up in the wild, the Leupold VX-3 3.5-10×40 sports the patented DiamondCoat 2 on its lenses to protect it from incidental bumps and bruises. The body also has advanced waterproofing for additional protection against the elements.

Shooters will enjoy greater flexibility with the dual erector spring system. Those who want to make the most out of any available daylight are also sure to appreciate the exclusive new Xtended Twilight Lens System.

Leupold scopes are arguably among the best in the world. Their products, although available for civilian use, are clearly competition or military grade. The Leupold VX-3 3.5-10×40 maybe purchased for just under $600. While it may not be the scope of choice for the novice rifle owner, it is certainly a wise investment for serious shooters, competitors or hunters. For enthusiasts, a scope that gives you details of low-light scenes in greater definition and luminance and is housed in an almost indestructible frame is certainly worth every penny. In my opinion, the VX-3 clearly deserves a five out of five.
