ATVs are a fun way to spend some time in the outdoors, whether you use them for a casual ride in the dirt or you take them very seriously. For people who enjoy snowmobiling, ATVs make for a great alternative during the summer months. If you are thinking about buying an ATV, some of the things you will have to consider are what type of bike you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. The fact of the matter is, if you choose to get involved in this type of recreation, or any hobby that involved motor vehicles, you will find yourself spending quite a bit of money. That doesn’t mean you have to get too carried away, however. Here are some things to keep in mind when shopping around for ATVs.

The first thing that you will need to decide is how much money you will be willing to spend. New ATVs can be as little as three thousand and as much as eight thousand dollars. This depends on the brand and model of the bike, as well as what sorts of features you decide to buy along with it. Another thing to consider is the fact that you will need to buy gear. Helmets can cost as little as a hundred dollars, but the more reliable head protection will cost you three times as much. If you are unable to spend this kind of money on a new hobby, you might want to consider buying a used ATV.

Once you have decided on whether a new or used bike is the right choice for you, it is time to decide what type of ATV you are looking for. This will depend on what the ATV is going to be used for. In most cases, you will be using an ATV for one of three reasons. There are people who are looking for an ATV because they want to move fast, and a high speed design is their primary concern. The second type of customer is looking for something a little more utilitarian, something that can haul things around or do some snow plowing. The third type of customer is looking for an ATV that is more well rounded and can do a little bit of both.

If you are the type of customer who is looking for something fast, there are additional choices that will need to be made. You will need to choose what type of motor to look for, a two stroke motor or a four stroke motor. Two stroke motors tend to be a little faster. The cylinder walls are lubricated by oil that is mixed in with the gasoline. This causes them to smoke up quite a bit more than four stroke motors. Four stroke motors use straight gasoline. They are not quite as responsive as two cylinder motors. Two cylinder motors are the best choice for people who want to race their ATVs.

Another thing to think about is the type of transmission to buy. There are currently three types: standard, automatic, and semi-automatic. A clutch lever and foot shifter are used to change gears on the standard. If you are a beginner you may want to use an automatic since you can stall or flood the engine by mistake. A semi-automatic does not have a clutch lever; you change gears by letting off the gas and using the foot shifter.

You will also want to consider how the ATV is started. There are pull starters, electric starters, and kick starters. The easiest option is electric, which starts with a button. The kick starter is a lever on the crank case that you need to kick in order to start. A pull starter works just like a lawn mower. If you buy an electric starter you may consider buying one with a backup pull start in case the battery goes dead.

The choice between two wheel and four wheel drive is a choice between speed and power. Two wheel drives are smaller and more nimble. Four wheel drives are less likely to get stuck and are better for heavy lifting. Anything one ATV can do, almost any other ATV can do as well. The question is how fast it can do it.
