    Bikes

I'll have to keep an eye on this thread. I don't have a bike, but I would like to get one. Any recommendations would be great!

    Finding Trails

I like to just show up at a park or campground and either ask around or just go out a bit and see where you end up. (Unless it's really rough country, then you have to make sure you have a map or something.)

    How to cheat...

Yeah, I've wasted 10 minutes of my life a couple of times on those darn things. I'd rather do a sudoku or word search puzzle, lol.

Pizza Hot Dish - Dutch Oven Recipe

That sounds like a great recipe for a family with kids! I'll pass this recipe on to my sister in law. They use a dutch oven all the time.

    Critters

Oh that's funny about the raccoons and marshmallows. We usually keep everything in a bin or cooler and keep it locked or put it in the car.

    Coffee

I was going to suggest the french press, although they are glass, so you would have to be careful not to knock it against a rock!

    MRE's

We don't. After being in the Army, and eating MRE's for nearly every meal for 5 months straight, my husband said he doesn't ever want another one. I hear some of them are actually pretty good, though.

    Best meal

I don't know about my best meal, but I have to brag on the hamburgers I bbq'd last night. I had a couple of pounds of ground game meat. I mixed it up with a pound of ground beef, some ketchup, worchestershire sauce and ranch dressing. I bbq'd/smoked them slowly. They were de-lish!!

    Favorite Recipe

I agree that the easiest foods to prepare with the least mess are the best! When camping as children, we always had sandwiches for lunch and dinner.

What are your goals for 2009?

I want to pay off some debts and just be the best wife and mother that I can be. With the economy and the world the way it is ... so unstable ... I want to make sure that I'm the one thing that my family knows they can always depend on!

    Managing the current economy?

We will be having a garden this year too. We haven't done one the past couple of years because they are so much work, but because of finances we really dont' have much choice this year.

    Pools Or Lakes

I really prefer a pool. I know that's not very outdoorsey, but there you have it. Gross plants and sharp rocks aren't my thing, lol.:tinysmile_tongue_t:

    Marshmallow shooters

Wow, my boys would go crazy over that! I wonder if I can get hubby to make a few ... :tinysmile_hmm_t:

    Pets And The Wilderness

OMG, I can't believe that poor cat lived through that. Poor thing! She was very lucky. I think it's amazing when peopel manage to leash train cats.

    Dominos vs Subway

I haven't seen that one! We don't have a Dominoes nearby, so I haven't tried their sandwiches. I'd like to though. We do have a Subway and eat there all the time, because we can feed all of us for a resonable price with their $5 footlongs.

    Smoking

We have a bbq pit with a smoker on the side. We love to smoke a great brisket in the summertime. My briskets are better than my husband's but don't tell him I said that! :tinysmile_twink_t2:

    Least Favorite Part Of Camping?

That's true! I hadn't thought of packing up. That's always kind of depressing, except I'm ready for a hot shower by the time we're ready to go home!

    Scariest Animal Ever Encountered.

I was at a camp for kids and we were swimming in the creek/river and a snake started swimming down and we all had to get out of the water. That's pretty much it! I've been lucky.

    Managing the current economy?

Is everyone weathering the current economy OK? I hope nobody has been laid off. My aunt told me the other day they laid off some people in her company and gave everyone a 5% pay cut. She's getting pretty nervous. So far, we're OK and aren't having any trouble paying our bills and such. I pray it...

    Pets And The Wilderness

I've never taken animals with us to go camping, but then again, up until this year I've always had cats! We have a delightful Basenji that might be a good camping buddy; at least I know she won't bark at anything!
